Job Description

UMass Boston invites applications for an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who will hold a full-time 12-month non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Nursing. AGNP is preferred. Our programs focus on health in urban populations of all ages and target improving health equity in populations at risk for healthcare disparities. For more information go to www.umb.edu/academics/cnhs . The Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) Track Coordinator provides leadership for the curriculum, faculty, and students for the AGNP track. A major responsibility is to oversee the education of students in the track. The AGNP coordinator directly reports to the Graduate Program Director.

Expectations:
  • Provides leadership for the implementation and evaluation of the AGNP track.
  • Participates in the education of students by teaching in population focused courses.
  • Responsible for developing the syllabi, supportive materials, and examinations for the AGNP population-based courses.
  • Facilitates faculty instruction of students in the didactic/clinical courses
  • Reviews student applications for admission to the AGNP track.
  • Clarifies program policies through communication with students.
  • Participates in the orientation and recruitment of AGNP students.
  • Monitors academic and clinical progress of AGNP students.
  • Refers AGNP students to academic support services as indicated.
  • Serves as a role model of professional nursing leadership for students in the track.
  • Works with the Clinical Internship Placement Office and clinical instructors on clinical placements for all students in their clinical year.
  • Oversees and liaises with clinical sites utilized by the population courses.
  • Guides the curriculum of the AGNP track to meet the requirements of the Board of Registration in Nursing, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Nurse Practitioner Core and AGNP Competencies, American Association of Colleges of Nursing and The Essentials of Masters and DNP Education for Advanced Practice Nursing.
  • Supports and assists clinical faculty in the development of clinical and classroom teaching skills, curriculum materials, and evaluation of student performance.
  • Recommends changes and improvements to the track based on evaluation data
  • Reviews evaluation data with faculty teaching in the FNP track.
  • Monitors the track to ensure that the evaluation plan is implemented.


Qualifications:

This is a 1.0 FTE, benefited position, 12 months.
  • Current state certification as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) required.
  • Candidates with a doctoral degree in nursing or related field, prior teaching experience, an active program of practice and/or scholarship are preferred.
  • Must be eligible for RN and/or advanced practice licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Teaching experience in higher education is preferred; teaching experience in other settings will be considered.
  • Theoretical and clinical expertise in nursing education.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with peer-reviewed, practice-oriented scholarship.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, assessment, evaluation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current CPR, CORI, and other documentation as required.
