Job summary

Plymouth State University invites dynamic applicants to apply for a Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing (Non-Tenure-track). This full-time, 9-month position teaches pre-licensure undergraduates in classroom and clinical settings, advises students, and contributes to service activities within the university.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Nursing, active NH RN license, and several years of nursing and teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience using instructional technology and/or delivering online instruction is preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program evaluation is preferred.
  • Mental health nursing background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 20-21 credits per year in undergraduate nursing courses, including classroom and clinical settings.
  • Provide clinical instruction/oversight and supervise student performance in simulations and labs.
  • Advise undergraduate students and participate in service to the university and discipline.

Applications are being accepted for a full-time, non-tenure track (9 month) Nursing faculty position teaching pre-licensure undergraduate students in the classroom and clinical areas. The candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate students and provide service to the university.Duties/ResponsibilitiesTeachingClinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Faculty are required to teach 20-21 credits per year. All credit hours will include any course/credit release . They teach undergraduate nursing courses that incorporate current theory and research while employing contemporary instructional design. Areas of responsibility will vary according to the faculty member’s areas of expertise. All faculty participate in the development and delivery of interprofessional education.Clinical responsibilitiesClinical Nursing faculty provide clinical instruction and/or oversight for students’ clinical experiences including evaluation of student achievement and competence. They additionally direct and debrief students in clinical simulation and labs.ServiceService is another important component of a faculty member’s workload. Service can be to the discipline, the School, the University, and the community and/or profession.Requirements:Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:Master’s degree in NursingTwo years practice as a registered nurse for the Clinical AssistantFour years of practice as a registered nurse for Clinical AssociateFive years of relevant college/university level teaching experience for Clinical AssociateMental Health Nursing BackgroundDesire to work as part of a team in the program, School and within the UniversityRequired Licenses & Certifications:Unencumbered RN license in the State of New Hampshire or eligibility for licensing in New HampshireKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsExperience using instructional technology and/or developing and delivering effective online instructionPreferred Qualifications:Experience in curriculum development and program evaluationSimulation ExperienceApplicant Instructions:Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled or otherwise closed at the University’s discretion.
