Job summary

ZEISS Meditec Inc. in New York City is seeking a Clinical Applications Specialist to support assembly of Carl Zeiss instruments, train technicians and doctors, perform basic troubleshooting, and communicate maintenance procedures professionally.

You will manage on-site and remote trainings across the territory, coordinating with adjacent regions as needed. You will work with Sales and Field Service Engineers on customer satisfaction, maintain product knowledge, and complete required

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in ophthalmology clinic or diagnostic ophthalmology.
  • Knowledge of visual fields, lensometry, refractometry, Biometry, and fundus photography.
  • Experience with laser scanning technology is helpful but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to work with customers in challenging situations.
  • Proficient with basic computing and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-site and remote trainings within territory by independently contacting customers, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements and addressing customer inquiries.
  • Communicate regularly with CAS in adjacent territories to coordinate on-site trainings of border customers.
  • Possess knowledge of the diagnostic ophthalmic industry.
  • Serve as the customer's liaison to Carl Zeiss liaison on administrative and technical/clinical issues.
  • Converse regularly with Regional Sales Managers & Field Service Engineers regarding customer satisfaction or training issues.
  • Begin development of a working relationship with both groups that enhances customer care and begin process of learning to identify & communicate sales leads.
  • Prepare and submit applicable documentation in a complete, accurate & timely manner (expense reports, Product Training Checklists).
  • Maintain & continually update knowledge on all appropriate Carl Zeiss products.
  • Adhere to CAS Responsibility document and GMP/ISO 9001 procedures.
  • Travel and perform other duties as required; ensure professional conduct and safety compliance.

What's the role?

The Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS), within infrequent supervision, must be able to support assembly of Carl Zeiss instruments, and their peripheral devices, as well as perform basic equipmenttroubleshooting, train technicians and/or doctors on instrument operation, and communicate basicequipment maintenance procedures in a professional manner.

Here's what you'll do:
  • Manage on-site and remote trainings within a given territory by independently contacting customers, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements and addressing customer inquiries.
  • Communicate regularly with CAS in adjacent territories to coordinate on-site trainings of "border" customers.
  • Possess knowledge of the diagnostic ophthalmic industry.
  • Serve as the customer's liaison to Carl Zeiss liaison on administrative and technical/clinical issues. Request assistance as needed.
  • Converse regularly with Regional Sales Managers & Field Service Engineers regarding customer satisfaction or training issues.
  • Begin development of a working relationship with both groups that enhances customer care. Begin process of learning to identify & communicate sales leads.
  • Prepare and submit applicable documentation in a complete, accurate & timely manner as directed. This includes but is not limited to expense reports, & Product Training Checklists.
  • Maintain & continually update knowledge on all appropriate Carl Zeiss products.
  • Adhere to "CAS Responsibility" document.
  • Other duties may include but are not limited to setup and instruction on Carl Zeiss equipment at Convention and/or Seminars Maintain currency of and adhere to applicable GMP and ISO 9001 processes and procedures.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Internal relationships include Sales team, Product Marketing, Customer Care.
  • External relationships involve primarily CZMI Customers.
  • Incumbent reports to the CAS Supervisor.
Do you qualify?
  • At least three to five (3-5) years of experience in an ophthalmology clinic setting or in the diagnostic ophthalmology industry or comparable experience.
  • Knowledge of visual fields, lensometry, refractometry, Biometry and/or fundus photography.
  • Knowledge of laser scanning technology is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Good communications skills (written & verbal) and the ability to work with customers in challenging situations are required.
  • Ability to follow standard practices & procedures in analyzing data or situations from which answers can readily be obtained.
  • Basic skills in computers & accompanying software. (Microsoft Office-Word, Excel)
  • Ability to travel overnight and work occasional weekends.
  • Well organized and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
  • SPECIAL DEMANDS: (If any, describe physically uncomfortable conditions, travel requirements, heavy lifting, etc., ref. ADA).
  • Must be able to lift to 70 pounds. Extensive travel by automobile and air, with some overnight travel, is required.
  • Job requires long distance automobile travel with frequent bending and kneeling.
  • Job requires an average of 4 hours driving per day and 2 customer visits per day.
  • Must conduct themself in accordance with standards of professional business protocol, routinely meet basic job performance criteria and present themself as well-groomed and attired.

The hourly pay range for this position is $29.00 - $37.00. Plus Company Car

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus.
