Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks an experienced AI Applications Engineer for the Cardiology AI Lab in New York. You will design and build clinician-facing applications, dashboards, and workflow-support systems to accelerate AI-enabled clinical workflows.

You will prototype AI-driven tools for documentation, triage, care coordination, and remote monitoring, collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to translate workflow needs into scalable software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, biomedical informatics, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering or AI/ML engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C#.
• Experience building software applications, dashboards, APIs, or platform components.
• Familiarity with databases, SQL, APIs, and best practices in software development.
• Ability to translate clinical workflows into technical solutions and work with non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain clinician-facing applications and dashboards for Cardiology AI Lab.
• Prototype AI-enabled clinical workflows and tools for documentation, triage, care coordination, remote monitoring, or CDS.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrators to translate user needs into tech requirements.
• Build and maintain full-stack apps, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations for clinical use cases.
• Assist with integrating applications into healthcare data systems and compliant environments.
• Ensure reliability, security, and alignment with institutional standards.
• Define implementation processes, user workflows, and documentation for deployed apps.
• Support scalability and production-readiness as tools mature.
• Evaluate AI-assisted development workflows and ML tools where appropriate.
• Participate in testing, feedback cycles, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain clear technical and workflow documentation for stakeholders.
