Job summary

East Hawaii Region of Hawai`i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) is seeking a Clinic Receptionist to greet patients, register and schedule appointments within a busy cancer clinic. You will verify insurance, manage referrals, and support the patient flow to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role emphasizes strong communication, multitasking, and customer service as you coordinate with clinicians and staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • General Experience: Two (2) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience demonstrating knowledge of office procedures, customer service, and basic computer skills
  • Specialized Experience (II level): In addition to the General Experience, six (6) months of work experience performing clerical duties including patient registration, scheduling, data entry and medical records handling in a healthcare or clinic setting
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Typing: Preferred ability to type at a net speed of 40 words per minute with accuracy

Responsibilities

As a Clinic Receptionist, you will play an essential role in supporting patients, families, physicians, and nurse practitioners by ensuring smooth clinic operations, coordinating appointments and procedures, and providing compassionate, professional service throughout the patient experience.

Required Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen.
