Job summary

Hilo Benioff Medical Center, part of the East Hawaii Region of Hawaiʻi Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), is seeking a Clinic Receptionist to support the Regional Angiography Department. You will help ensure accurate billing for diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services, reconcile charges, and assist with revenue-cycle processes.

The role involves collaborating with imaging leadership, addressing denials, and maintaining records while delivering excellent customer service in a hospital setting

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, multitask, customer service.
  • Typing: Preferred 40 wpm accurate.
  • Substitution: Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree may substitute for general experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process charge capture work queries in the EMR for Imaging units, ensuring accurate capture and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with Imaging technologists and leaders to resolve charge discrepancies and complete reconciliation.
  • Process Imaging billing denials and run weekly charge capture reports for Imaging management.
  • Answer calls, relay messages, and follow through on requests and activities to completion.
  • Maintain office supplies and coordinate procurement with Central Supply and other departments.
  • Reconcile accounts/audits, compile departmental statistics, and maintain confidentiality per hospital policies.

Support the financial and administrative operations of Hilo Benioff Medical Center’s Regional Angiography Department in a role that helps ensure accurate and timely billing for diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services. As an Clinic Receptionist, you will work closely with Imaging technologists, supervisors, directors, and administrators to reconcile charges, address billing denials, maintain accurate records, and help keep essential revenue-cycle processes running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process charge capture work queries in the electronic medical record (EMR) for assigned Imaging work units and ensure charges are accurately captured and reconciled.
  • Collaborate with Imaging modality Lead Technologists, Supervisors, Directors, and Administrators to resolve charge discrepancies and complete reconciliation in a timely manner.
  • Process assigned Imaging billing denials to support accurate and complete billing, and run and distribute weekly charge capture reports to appropriate Imaging management team members.
  • Answer incoming calls, make outgoing calls, relay accurate messages, and follow through on requests and activities through completion.
  • Maintain office supplies, forms, and equipment; coordinate the acquisition of supplies and equipment from Central Supply, Sterile Processing, and other appropriate departments.
  • Reconcile accounts and audits as assigned, compile and analyze departmental statistics, prepare periodic reports, and maintain confidentiality while following hospital safety, infection control, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
Required Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Two (2) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience demonstrating knowledge of office procedures, customer service, and basic computer skills
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Typing: Preferred ability to type at a net speed of 40 words per minute with accuracy
  • Substitution of Education for General Experience: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university may substitute for all the General Experience required.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
