Job description

Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under close to general supervision. Performs basic clerical work and routine tasks. Administrative duties include scheduling, check-in, check-out, and assisting with patient visits. Actual job duties may vary by Department.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform routine administrative and clerical duties related to a clinical service or physician practice.
  • Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
  • Greet and assist patients.
  • Answer telephones, assist callers with inquiries, and schedule appointments.
  • File materials in patient folders and print appointment schedules.
  • Process patient billing forms and scan documents to medical records.
  • Call for patient medical records and lab test results.
  • Open and distribute mail or faxes.
  • Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc., as directed.
  • May accept co-payments.
  • Handle, screen, and take messages related to authorizations, referrals, and verify registration accuracy.
  • Monitor waiting room and respond to patient needs.
  • Assist in patient flow processes.
Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. This role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

Healthcare office experience 0-1 year required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency with Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of office operations, procedures, filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing.
  • Ability to manage phone calls and routine issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and compose work-related documents.
