We are hiring a Clinic Nurse (LPN)/Medical Assistant for our Diabetic Clinic. You will provide quality patient care and serve as a patient advocate.

Responsibilities include:

1. Escort patients to exam rooms, document data such as chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, pain level, medication history, and fall risk. Review health history and prepare exam rooms.
2. Assist with scheduling appointments, lab tests, diagnostics, and referrals. Review test preparation instructions with patients and document in medical records. Refer patients to providers or nurses for education as needed.
3. Complete charge tickets and submit charges electronically, including diagnosis and billable supplies. Obtain ABN as necessary.
4. Administer medications and treatments following proper procedures, emphasizing patient safety. Document medication administration.
5. Maintain competency in administering various medications via IM, SQ, ID, oral, inhalation, ocular, topical, sublingual, and nasal routes.
6. Follow proper procedures for notifying and following up on phone messages under supervision.
7. Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, staff, and other departments. Assist customers as needed.
8. Assist in cost containment by maintaining adequate supplies in workstations and exam rooms.

Schedule:

• Full time
• Days, M-F 8am-5pm

General Requirements:

LPN:

• Graduate of a nursing school
• Current Iowa Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license
• Proof of BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) required prior to employment or within 60 days
• Complete mandatory reporting on child and dependent adult abuse within 6 months of hire, renewed every 3 years

Medical Assistant:

• At least six months of healthcare experience preferred
• Additional computer skills
• Graduate of an approved medical assistant program
• Credentialed as CMA, RMA, NCMA; CCMA accepted with training
