Clinic Nurse is a professional nursing position that provides quality patient care and advocates for patients.
Join the MercyOne Family! We are hiring a Clinic Nurse (LPN)/Medical Assistant for our Diabetic Clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain and document data such as chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, pain level, medication history, and fall risk. Review health history and prepare exam rooms. Assist with exams and procedures.
- Schedule patient appointments, labs, diagnostics, and referrals. Review test preparation with patients and document in records. Refer patients for education as needed.
- Complete charge tickets, submit charges electronically, and document diagnoses and billable supplies. Obtain ABN as necessary.
- Administer medications and treatments following proper procedures, emphasizing patient safety. Document administration.
- Maintain competency in administering various medications via IM, SQ, ID, oral, inhalation, ocular, optic, topical, sublingual, and nasal routes.
- Follow up on phone messages under supervision of a provider.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff and assist customers as needed.
- Assist in cost containment by managing supplies in workstations and exam rooms.
Schedule:
- Full time
- Days, M-F 8am-5pm
Minimum Requirements:
LPN:
- Graduate of a nursing school
- Current Iowa Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license
- Proof of BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Complete mandatory reporting requirements within 6 months of hire
Medical Assistant:
- Minimum six months healthcare experience preferred
- Computer knowledge
- Graduate of an approved medical assistant program
- Credentialed as CMA, RMA, NCMA; CCMA accepted with training
