Job summary

Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon, Idaho, is seeking a dedicated nurse to join our rural clinic team. You will provide individualized patient care, maintain EMR records, and support physicians with procedures in a community-focused setting.

The role emphasizes compassionate patient interactions, adherence to nursing standards, and collaboration with staff to support Quality Improvement initiatives in a close-knit rural community.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a current Idaho LPN or RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
• 6–12 months nursing experience in a clinic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise patients of appropriate care and triage telephonic inquiries.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documents.
• Screen and prepare patients for examinations; input data into EMR.
• Provide treatments ordered by physicians/providers.
• Assist physicians/providers with office procedures.
• Maintain and stock inventories of supplies in exam rooms and nursing stations.
• Schedule and perform diagnostic procedures as ordered by provider.
• Assist Medical Records with sending copies of records to other agencies.
• Handle pre-authorizations for procedures and referrals with payors.
• Fax referral documents and assist with prior authorizations.
• Inspect exam rooms for cleanliness and stock levels.
• Demonstrate proficiency in administering injections to patients of all ages.
• Utilize EMR for patient functions and communications.
• Respond to patient calls and document in medical records.

Requirements

Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the clinic in support of medical care. Provides nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of Steele Memorial Medical Center - Clinic and the State of Idaho Board of Nursing. Maintains the standards of nursing care as established. Participates and supports Quality Improvement activities and initiatives. Ability to prioritize duties and cope with interruptions, reorganizing work accordingly.

Duties

• Advises patients of appropriate care when they call with medical questions and triages appropriately
• Maintains accurate, legible patient records, reports and any other documents
• Screens and prepares patients for examinations, inputting information into the EMR for the Provider/Physician
• Provides specific treatments ordered by the Physician/Provider
• Assists physician/provider with office procedures
• Maintains and stocks adequate inventories of supplies and equipment in exam rooms and nursing stations
• Schedules/performs diagnostic procedures as order by provider/physician
• Assists Medical Records by preparing and sending copies of appropriate patient medical records to other agencies
• Performs steps necessary for patient pre-authorizations for procedures and referrals with payors and medical offices
• Fax referral documents; assist with prior authorization duties
• Inspects exam rooms for cleanliness, orderliness, and proper stocking
• Demonstrate proficiency in administering injections to patients of all age groups
• Utilizes EMR for patient functions
• Maintains, answers, and returns patient phone calls with documentation in medical record
• Incorporate the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate the patient

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a current Idaho Licensed Practical Nurse license or Idaho Registered Nurse License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
• 6-12 months previous nursing experience in a clinic preferred
