Job summary

The START Center for Cancer Research in Pittsburgh is hiring a Clinic Nurse to support clinic providers in oncologic trials. You will perform telephone triage, educate patients on trial participation and chemotherapy/ immunotherapy administration, and document history in the EMR.

You will coordinate patient care with internal and external staff, assist with prescription refills, and contribute to EHR quality standards. A HS diploma and RN license are required, with oncology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in practicing state.
• 2–4 years of oncology nursing experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Oncology experience preferred; OCN certification is a plus.

The START Center for Cancer Research (“START”) is the world’s largest early phasesite network, fully dedicated to oncologyclinical research. We are hiring a Clinic Nurse. The Clinic Nurse is responsible for assisting the clinic providers with examination, evaluation and triage of individuals who are participants in research protocols that are conducted at START. The Clinic Nurse uses appropriate professional judgment and decision-making in planning and providing care.

Work Schedule: 8:00 am-5:00 pm EST, Monday-Friday

Location: 314 E. North Street, Suite 02, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15212

Essential Responsibilities:

Patient Care

• Perform telephone triage assessments of patients on trial.
• Provide patient education regarding participation in a clinical trial, chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent administration and potential side effects.
• Enter patient history into the Electronic Medical Record based on records received and the patient provided history.
• Coordinate patient care with internal and external staff.

Planning and problem-solving tasks

• Assist with prescription refills.
• Assist with entry and completion of quality standards for EHR/PQRS.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in practicing state.
• 2 - 4 years of oncology nursing experience.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Excel, Outlook and Word.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
• Clinical Trials experience.
