Department Overview

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant will provide family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents under the delegation of a provider or RN. Responsibilities include:

  1. Escort patients to exam rooms and document information appropriately.
  2. Prepare and administer medications and injections as directed.
  3. Assist with procedures such as hearing/vision tests, rapid strep testing, nebulizer treatments, and urine catheterizations.
  4. Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring accuracy and patient dignity.
  5. Maintain knowledge of and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of an LPN/LVN or RN program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a clinical setting or completion of a Medical Assistant externship at Children’s Minnesota.
  • Pediatric experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Phlebotomy and basic laboratory skills (if required by site).
Licenses/Certifications
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

The salary range is competitive based on market data. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and more. Shift differentials or premium pay may apply for night, weekend, or on-call work. All offers contingent on health assessment, drug screen, background check, and employment verification.
