Job summary

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in our Women’s Services Clinic. The role involves assessing patients, taking vital signs, assisting physicians with exams and procedures, and documenting all activities in the patient record.

You will help obtain pre-certifications and referrals, educate patients, and relay physician instructions. The LPN will also handle scheduling, answer calls, manage refills, and ensure safety and infection control in the clinic.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing for Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Active WV LPN license required.
• One year experience in a provider office or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time LPN in our Women's Services Clinic.

The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

1. Perform general nursing duties. Assess patients’ general condition and take vital signs and History. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Documents all activities, interventions and medications in the patient record. Obtains pre-certifications, pre-authorizations and referrals from insurance companies.
2. Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice and instructions.
3. Responsible in handling critical lab values and promptly seeking physician orders. Schedule outside referrals. Assist with Medical procedures. Answer telephone. Scheduling patients for office visits and/or hospital tests. Sending prescriptions into pharmacy. Calling patients with test results.
4. Assists the physicians in the treatment and care of the patients in the office. Maintains exam rooms and other patient areas for the physician to examine the patients.
5. Responsible for ensuring safety, infection control and other policies and procedures are followed in the office.
6. Perform routine office laboratory procedures.
7. Maintain equipment and supplies needed for patient care.
8. Answer phones. Triage telephone patient care issues directly to clinic provider.
9. Adheres to Corporate Policies, JCAHO, Rural Health, Departmental Policies and Procedures, and Personnel Employee Handbook.
10. Demonstrates professionalism and accountability.
11. Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
12. Filling in during co-workers absence. Cover other nursing personnel when they are not here and complete full range of duties. Cover other areas as needed.
13. General receptionist duties including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling patients, prepare cash receipts, registering patients, and entering daily charges.
14. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:

Graduate of an approved school of nursing for Licensed Practical Nurse. Must hold an active WV License.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

One year experience preferred in a provider office or hospital related area working with direct patient care.
