Job summary

Northfield Hospital + Clinics is seeking a Clinic Laboratory Supervisor to lead personnel, technical, and scientific oversight of clinic laboratories within the Family Health Medical Clinic System. You will work with the Director of Laboratory Services and site management to evaluate testing needs, staff competency, and uphold quality standards across the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • ASCP certification required.
  • Must maintain Minnesota Driver's License and driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Select test methodologies and instrumentation appropriate for clinical use.
  • Verify test procedures and establish performance criteria, accuracy and precision.

Summary

The Clinic Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the personnel, technical, and scientific oversight of the clinic laboratories within the Family Health Medical Clinic System. The Clinic Laboratory Supervisor works in collaboration with the Director of Laboratory Services and clinic site management to evaluate testing needs, staff competency, and establishes the quality standards of the laboratory through the selection and monitoring of the laboratory’s staff, methods, and instrumentation.

Compensation

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The wage range for this position is $75,920.00—$107,182.40. This range reflects the base salary for this position.

Key Accountabilities
  • Selects test methodologies and instrumentation appropriate for clinical use.
  • Verifies test procedures performed and establishes the laboratory’s performance criteria, including the accuracy and precision of each test and test system.
  • Determines staffing needs. Interviews, selects, and assesses staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Enrolls laboratory in an approved proficiency-testing program commensurate with services offered. Documents, reviews, and monitors proficiency test results.
  • Establishes, maintains, and monitors a quality control program appropriate for the scope of testing performed.
  • Ensures instrument performance includes calibration, maintenance records, quality control, and troubleshooting.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures testing personnel receive regular competency assessments.
  • Prepares the clinic laboratories for inspection by accrediting agencies and carries out activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Develops and implements quality monitors and performance improvement programs for clinic laboratories.
  • Oversight of clinic lab supplies to ensure that supplies are properly ordered. Manage clinic lab inventory.
  • Writes procedures, holds clinic lab meetings and in-services as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates clinic laboratory competency program to ensure all staff are competent to perform waived and moderately complex testing. Performs staff competency evaluations as outlined by CLIA.
  • All employees are required to demonstrate understanding of and adherence to NH+C’s Compliance and Ethics Program (including its Code of Conduct), and complete required training.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • Certification by ASCP
  • Maintain a valid Minnesota Driver's License and driving record that meets NH&C driving standards
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment
  • Must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program for BLS certification and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
  • Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.
  • Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years clinic laboratory experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Ability to effectively relate to staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
Schedule
  • 80 hours per two-week pay period
  • Regular schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional early mornings or extended hours may be required for meetings, including Board meetings.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support operational needs, including maintenance projects, ITS upgrades or system downtime, analyzer issues, and departmental coverage during staff absences.
