Job summary

MercyOne Genesis seeks a Clinic Lab Technician for the day shift serving the Quad Cities region across eastern Iowa and western Illinois. You will collect blood samples, operate the LIS for test orders and results, and educate patients on specimen collection techniques.

Processing specimens, ensuring proper storage, and performing CLIA testing under supervision are key duties. You will maintain records and work within a collaborative team to deliver accurate results.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to collect blood samples via venous and capillary methods from diverse age groups.
• Experience using a Laboratory Information System to activate, order, and report tests.
• Educate patients on proper specimen collection techniques.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure quality control for all tests.
• Work with a team to deliver timely results in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Procure blood samples via venous and capillary techniques across age groups.
• Utilize LIS to activate, order, and report laboratory tests.
• Educate patients on proper specimen collection procedures.
• Process specimens and maintain proper storage temperatures.
• Prepare specimens for transfer to reference laboratories and ensure timely STAT handling.
• Perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing under supervision.
• Maintain temperature monitoring and routine QC documentation.
• Collaborate with team to uphold MercyOne Health System's standards of care.
