Job summary

MercyOne Genesis in the Quad Cities area seeks a Clinic Lab Technician to join our path of delivering high-quality patient care. You will perform venous and capillary blood collection, run CLIA-waived and moderate tests, and ensure proper specimen handling and documentation.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant, Certified Phlebotomist or other healthcare studies preferred.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Must possess honesty, integrity and caring aligned with MercyOne values.

Responsibilities

• Procure blood samples via venous and capillary techniques for patients from infant to geriatric.
• Use Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and reporting results.
• Educate patients on proper specimen collection (urine, stool, sputum).
• Review provider orders for accuracy and contact providers as needed.
• Prepare specimens, centrifuge, and store at correct temperatures to preserve integrity.
• Transfer specimens to reference labs and manage STAT transfers.
• Perform waived and moderately complex CLIA testing under supervision.
• Maintain temperature logs and quality control records for all tests.
• Collaborate with the team to deliver compassionate patient care.
