Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks a Clinic Coordinator at MHPT @ South Baltimore to provide therapy services across physical, occupational and speech-language pathology and to coordinate clinic operations with leadership.

The role requires licensure for your location, BLS CPR, and 3–4 years outpatient rehab experience, with a focus on efficient access and referrals growth within a major health system.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational, Physical Therapy or Speech Language Pathology required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Licensure as deemed necessary for location(s) (MD/DC/VA).
  • BLS CPR certification for Healthcare Providers required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation and treatment services; explain findings and plan to patient/family.
  • Coordinate day-to-day clinic operations and scheduling with leadership.
  • Support program development, referrals growth and communication with physicians and insurers.
  • Assist with staffing, performance feedback and budget considerations.

Education

MedStar Health is looking for a Clinic Coordinator to join our team at MHPT @ South Baltimore!We are looking forsomeone with professional competency as a general practitioner in occupational, physical therapy or speech language pathology.

The Clinic Coordinator willprovidephysical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology services to patient, to include but not limited to screening and evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, treatment reassessment and revision, patient/clientreevaluation, discharge planning, and documentation.Assistsin coordinating day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Clinic Leadership. Coordinates effective short-term scheduling and team member coverage. Individual is responsible to work with the Clinic leadership to promote proper and efficientutilizationof quality services. Participates in program development, expansion and improvement with the Clinic Leadership and other team members. Helps develop andmaintainsystems to increase referrals and to communicate with physicians, insurers, and external case managers.

Primary Duties:
  • Providesevaluation and treatment services. Explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporatesthemin goalsetting. Demonstratesproficiencyin implementation of treatment protocols. Consults with other healthcare professionals asindicated. Documentschangein patients’conditions.Completesappropriate dischargeplanning and follow-up care.Accuratelyandtimelydocuments and charges for patient careactivities.
  • Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization.Promotes excellent customer experience and great access. Demonstrates a professional commitment toprovidefrictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment. Participates in team removal of barriers to access.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operationsinthe direction of the clinic leadership. This may include but not limited toassistingwith the coordination of daily staffing and patient scheduling, working with team members to meet productivity expectations and service demands,participatinginutilizationand peer review activities, andassistswith ongoing feedback to team membersregardingobserved performance and talents tofacilitategoal achievement.Assistswith performance appraisals and completes them promptly.Assistsin theselection, training,andorienting of staff as directed by clinic leadership.Assistsin performance management and conducts performance appraisals ona timelybasis
  • Providesinput into the budget and helps manage expenses tooperatewithin the budget parameters.Participates in program development, expansion and improvement with the Clinic leadership and other team members. Catalyzes communication and collaboration with physicians, and other program/service stakeholders, across the care continuum as applicable, promoting improved programming, integration ofindicatedtherapy to promote value driven care and best practice in transitions in care for patients across our communities. Activelyparticipatesinteams/committees to promote the goals of the service line.
  • Coordinates community and MedStar outreach and formal marketing initiatives to expand potential patient and referrer awareness of programs and services, capturesadditionalprogram volume as a result.Assistwith the initiative in developing andmaintainingreferrals
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Occupational, Physical Therapy or Speech Language Pathology.
  • High School Diploma or GED of an accredited school of Occupational, Physical therapy or Speech Language Pathology.
  • Maryland, District of Columbia,or Virginia licensurerequiredasdeemednecessary for your specific location(s).
  • American Heart Association’sBLS (Basic Life Support)for Healthcare ProvidersCPR(Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation)certification.
  • 3-4 years Clinical experience in an outpatient rehabilitation setting withdemonstratedexpertisepreferred.
