Connections Personnel is hiring for a long-term temporary Bariatric Clinic Coordinator for our client located in Rahway, NJ. While designated as a medical assistant role, company needs an administrative person who has experience in a physician's office or hospital registration area. There will be patient interaction, scheduling appointments, answering calls and queries from patients. Candidate should be an independent, resourceful individual. This is not an entry level position. The candidate needs to be proficient in medical terminology.
Responsibilities:
- Registering patients for bariatric clinics.
- Ability to work in with electronic health records required.
- Any experience working with EPIC is A+.
- Responsible for managing patients, greeting patients, answering calls, responding to program inquires and scheduling visits (including all new, follow up and post-op).
- Responsible for keeping current data and stats as needed for Centers of Excellence reporting and maintenance for yearly accreditation.
- Prepare patients for all outpatient visits through surgery and follow ups.
- May need to assist physician during examinations.
- Verifies patient's appointments, makes and confirms appointments, obtains all authorizations, coordinates appointment paperwork, keeps current documentation by reviewing and or recording medical history, taking vitals and confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
- The CMA maintains accurate records for bariatric surgeon and office while keeping medical record information confidential upholding HIPPA requirements.
- Filing, supply ordering, assisting with patients and families, creating monthly reports and data generation, attending educational seminars, support groups, patient activities, program marketing and outreach events in multiple venues.
- Will be scheduling appointments, procedures, surgeries and follow ups in EPIC.
- Will be handling insurance verification.
- Must have computer skills and outlook to handle emails and to assist with getting paperwork to patients.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, some college preferred.
- Must have 1 year of experience in medical related field.
- Medical Assistant Certificate needed.
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
- Ability to work within an EMR and navigate electronic records.
- Any experience using EPIC A+.
- Must have Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Must speak English.
- Drug test/background checks done prior to starting.
