Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Clinic Coder for Clinic Coding Services. This full-time, day-shift position offers hybrid/remote work options and may require on-site presence within 60 miles of the Topeka Campus during downtime.

The role involves coding reviews of medical records and accurate ICD-9/ICD-10-CM and CPT coding for physicians and other providers. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of coding experience and AHIMA or AAPC credentials, with strong knowledge of medical terminology

Qualifications

  • Two years coding experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement processes and regulatory guidelines.
  • AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials required.

Responsibilities

  • Selects and assigns ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT codes per guidelines.
  • Uses EMR to process claims electronically or manually.
  • Routes completed charge tickets to business office for entry.
  • Ensures coding accuracy with medical necessity documentation.
  • Complies with payer guidelines and regulatory changes.
  • Communicates with physicians to clarify documentation when needed.

Position may qualify as hybrid or fully remote. If within 60 miles of Topeka Campus may be required to appear on site in the event of a system-wide downtime. Both hybrid and fully remote will be required to fulfill all organizational mandated requirements (i.e. influenza vaccines). Experience Qualifications* 2 years Coding experience.
