Job summary

Bakersfield Family Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant Ward Clerk to support patient care in a clinic/ambulatory setting. The role includes scheduling, managing tasks for providers, processing referrals, and back-up reception.

The MA Ward Clerk will perform administrative and clinical tasks while adhering to clinic policies and engaging with internal and external partners to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Medical Assistant diploma/certificate held.
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience with physician office or clinic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients courteously and maintain professional communications.
• Schedule appointments in accordance with physician and department guidelines.
• Update patient information in the clinic EMR.
• Process referrals and back-up reception duties as needed.
• Handle patient messages and arrive in NextGen/EHR promptly.
• Maintain sterile technique and document procedures accurately.
• Assist with in-clinic procedures and basic clinical tasks as ordered.
