Job description

About Children's Minnesota

Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. It is an independent, not‑for‑profit system that serves kids throughout the Upper Midwest at two free‑standing hospitals, nine primary care clinics, multiple specialty clinics and seven rehabilitation sites. As the Kids Experts™ in our region, Children’s Minnesota is regularly ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top children’s hospital.

Position Summary

This position exists to assist the providers and staff in the clerical and patient care aspects of the pediatric clinic. The Dual Trainee Program is a grant‑funded program through the state of Minnesota in which an individual works as a Clinic Assistant (CA) while completing a Medical Assistant program through a school chosen by Children’s. The expectation is that the individual works a 0.6 FTE, benefit‑eligible position while maintaining a ‘good’ status in school while taking full‑time credits. The trainee will work with Medical Assistants, observing and shadowing their tasks while completing the tasks assigned to them as a CA. The trainee will work with their direct leader to create a weekly schedule that fits business need, FTE and their class schedule. If the individual does not maintain a ‘good’ status in school or the position, they will be removed from the grant program and the CA position.
