Job summary

The University of South Florida invites applications for an Advanced Clinical Fellow in its health sciences program. The fellow will be supervised by a licensed practitioner and will participate in research and clinical activities within the medical school.

Responsibilities include teaching residents, conducting research, writing abstracts, and contributing to publications. Eligible candidates may pursue subspecialty certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved professional degree program in the health discipline and completion of residency training.
  • Licensed or eligible for a Florida medical license in the primary specialty.
  • Willing to participate in teaching activities and conduct research.
  • Advanced Fellowship training completed or to be completed; academic orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Residents in rotation and direct research projects and publications.
  • Contribute to medical literature, abstracts and presentations at society meetings.
  • Foster the research interests of the residents.
  • Conduct research and write reports on objectives and results.
  • Provide clinical activities relating to the advanced fellowship training program.
  • Possibility to provide services under a Professional Services Agreement.

Job description

Responsible to a licensed health care practitioner or other appropriate higher level administrator of a medical or professional school of a State university. Serves as a member of the House staff of a State University System Medical/Professional School. Responsible for conducting research in specialized areas of health care, and for writing reports on research objectives and results. May participate in teaching activities. Must be a graduate of an approved professional degree program in the appropriate health discipline and have completed residency training within a selected area of specialization, including research and/or clinical training in specialized areas.

Must be licensed or eligible for a full Florida medical license in their primary specialty and qualified to function as an attending physician.

This Advanced Fellowship training will usually follow the completion of clinical training in preparation for an academic position or subspecialty certification.

Due to the requirements of this class code, holders of J-1 visa are not eligible for an appointment using this code.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Clinical Fellow.
