Assistant Professor Emergency Medicine & Core Faculty (Finance)

This full-time clinical faculty position in Adult Emergency Medicine will provide patient care within the Tampa General Hospital Emergency Department system, including the main academic medical center and the South Campus Freestanding Emergency Departments. The physician will practice in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center that serves as the primary teaching site for the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. The Residency Core Faculty Member will support the residency program through mentorship, curriculum development, and resident assessment while ensuring alignment with ACGME accreditation standards. This role also involves supporting the program in advancing the academic mission of USF and fostering an environment of excellence in clinical care, research, and teaching.

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un‑restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.

Must be board certified/eligible in Emergency Medicine.

Clinical responsibilities will include patient care at the Tampa General Hospital Emergency Department main Academic site and the South Campus Freestanding Emergency Departments. This position will participate in bedside teaching during overnight shifts; the main academic site has Medical Students and Residents present.

As Core Faculty in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, the individual will serve as a clinical educator, supervising and teaching residents and medical students within the emergency department and providing direct, real‑time instruction in clinical decision‑making and patient care. Teaching responsibilities include participating in the development and delivery of educational activities for the residency, as well as providing feedback and evaluation of resident performance to support their development. The faculty member participate in resident assessment through service on the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and/or Program Evaluation Committee (PEC). Additional duties include contributing to residency recruitment efforts, such as participating in interviews and application review, and engaging in scholarly activity consistent with ACGME expectations for core faculty.
