Clinical Lab Techs

Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in diagnosis and monitoring of various diseases. Conduct routine and complex testing in all laboratory sections, including Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Participate in patient testing, quality control, CAP surveys, policy and procedure development, and equipment maintenance.

Essential Functions:

1. Follow standardized procedures and prepare samples for testing.
2. Recognize and correct errors promptly, reporting to the supervisor.
3. Perform Quality Assurance, including equipment QC, maintenance, and documentation.
4. Participate in ongoing educational activities.
5. Assist with specialized techniques/projects under supervision.
6. Ensure laboratory compliance with regulations.
7. Collect and analyze samples for abnormalities, including blood for pre-transfusion testing.
8. Operate laboratory equipment effectively.
9. Analyze and report test results accurately and timely.
10. Perform automated and manual tests following established policies.
11. Train and educate MLT students.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree or HEW technologist designation; Medical Technology Program preferred.

Required Skills:

Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and stress management skills.

Certifications:

ASCP preferred.

Work Experience:

1-3 years in a laboratory setting preferred.
