Clinical Lab Techs

Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring various diseases. Tasks include routine and complex testing across all laboratory sections, such as Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Responsibilities also include participating in patient testing, quality control, CAP surveys, policy development, and equipment maintenance.

Essential Functions

1. Follow standardized procedures and prepare samples for testing.
2. Recognize and correct errors promptly, reporting to the supervisor.
3. Conduct Quality Assurance, including QC and equipment maintenance.
4. Engage in continuing education and meet deadlines independently.
5. Perform specialized techniques under supervision.
6. Ensure regulatory compliance in laboratory functions.
7. Collect and analyze bodily fluids and blood samples for abnormalities.
8. Operate laboratory equipment effectively.
9. Analyze test results for accuracy and report according to standards.
10. Use automated and manual testing methods.
11. Train and educate MLT students.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree required or HEW designation as technologist; Medical Technology Program completion preferred.

Required Skills

Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and stress management skills are required.

Certifications

ASCP certification preferred.

Work Experience

1-3 years laboratory experience preferred.
