Job summary

First Ascent Climbing & Fitness is seeking a proactive Program Manager to lead gym programming, events, and classes, while working with gym leadership to grow the climbing community. This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset.

The position reports to the Arlington Heights Manager and includes a PTO package, health/dental/vision & disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, and free gym memberships.

Qualifications

• Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills are required.
• Friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and adaptability to different personalities.
• Flexible work style with ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively.
• Enthusiasm for sharing climbing knowledge and fitness.
• Demonstrated knowledge of climbing equipment and proper belay technique.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office based systems and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Program Staffing: manage First Ascent programming, including groups, events, classes, Summer Camp, Guided sessions, and yoga/fitness programs.
• Assist gym leadership with hiring, coaching, and conducting performance reviews.
• Work with leadership to create a community atmosphere for members and guests.
• Collaborate with gym leadership to create unique events for the gym clientèle.
• Oversee facilities with leadership to maintain cleanliness and safety for clientele.
