The Davey Tree Expert Company is looking for a climbing arborist trainee to join our outdoor team in Burr Ridge, IL. You will be paid to learn tree climbing and progressively join a tree crew, gaining skills in pruning, removal, and safety protocols.

We offer full-time, permanent employment with paid time off, holidays, advancement opportunities, and equipment provided. Starting pay ranges from $20 to $23 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors is essential.
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb and prune/remove trees safely as part of a crew.
• Learn to perform tree pruning and removal services across sites.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Grow skills and responsibilities with experience.
