The Davey Tree Expert Company in Long Grove, IL is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee. This entry-level role will have you learning to climb trees, pruning and removal practices, and performing duties with a safety-first mindset in outdoor settings.

You will join a tree crew, develop skills in climbing, pruning, cabling, and hazard assessments, and receive on-the-job training plus certification opportunities.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Preferred: Pesticide licenses/certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and get paid to do it.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood in the canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
