Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is looking for a climbing Arborist Trainee to join our outdoor team in Lombard, IL. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day as you learn climbing, pruning, and removal skills with safety first.

We offer paid training, opportunities for advancement, and a strong safety culture. This entry-level role includes on-site work and potential travel up to 25% as you grow your arborist career serving residential and commercial clients.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Pesticide licenses/certificates if state law requires.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be paid to do that.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Learn how to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
