Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to join our outdoor team in Wheeling, IL. This entry role involves climbing trees, learning pruning and removal techniques, and working with a crew to deliver safe, high-quality tree care services.

You will receive hands-on training, safety instruction, and access to company benefits as you progress through the program and develop skills in pruning, cabling, bracing, and hazard assessment.

Qualifications

• Love of outdoors
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree orientation and safety courses upon hire

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew
• Perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully
• Identify trees and follow pruning guidelines
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Maintain and operate equipment such as chainsaws and chippers
