Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist trainee for on-site work in Lombard, IL. You’ll join a tree crew and begin learning climbing, pruning, and removal operations in a hands-on environment.

Starting wages range from $20 to $23 per hour, with benefits and training opportunities. The role emphasizes safety, equipment handling, and progressive skill development in a field-leading company.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and progressively learn new skills.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew.
• Learn to prune and remove deadwood and hazardous trees safely and skillfully.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Demonstrate growth opportunities within the team.
