The Davey Tree Expert Company in Kent, WA is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist Trainee to join our outdoor-focused team. You’ll begin by learning to climb trees, assist in pruning and removals, and work safely on client sites under experienced supervision.

This entry-level role offers hands-on training, access to industry-leading gear, and clear paths for advancement within one of the nation’s largest employee-owned environmental service companies.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and interest in arborist work.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving training on hire.
• Pesticide licenses or related certificates are preferred if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work with a tree crew while gaining new skills.
• Learn to perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Understand tree identification and pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Your growth height depends on your drive and performance.
