Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Mokena, IL is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee. The office is outdoors, and you will join a tree crew while learning climbing techniques and safe tree care. Training programs are provided to develop pruning, removal, and safety skills, with progression opportunities based on performance.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour, with full-time benefits such as health coverage and retirement plans. Travel may be up to 25% as required by project locations.

Qualifications

Outdoor-oriented candidate with love of the outdoors
Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred
Willingness to complete Davey Tree safety training upon hire

Responsibilities

Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew
Learn tree pruning and removal methods
Assist in installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
Maintain and operate chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and related tools
Contribute to safe, efficient tree care for clients

Education

Forestry/Horticulture/Landscaping background

Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire

First Aid CPR and defensive driving course upon hire

Job description
