Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Crew Leader in Nashville, TN. Your office is outdoors, and you will lead a crew delivering professional arboricultural care across sites with safety and precision.

You’ll use DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems to prune, remove deadwood, install cables, and remove hazardous trees. Training, certifications, and advancement opportunities are available in a strong employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a crew in arboriculture.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Must complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred licenses and certificates in forestry or horticulture.
• ISA TCIA certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and provide arboricultural care for clients.
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout canopy.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Operate tools including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.

What You'll Do:

• How high you grow depends on you!
• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Safely and productively provide arboricultural care for our clients, including but not limited to:
  • Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
  • Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew
• In addition, Crew Leaders will also:
  • Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program

What We're Looking For:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Experience with the job duites listed above
• Required: Experience leading a crew
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
