Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist crew leader in Richmond, VA to guide a field crew in delivering professional tree care outdoors. This role requires safe climbing, crew leadership, and delivering high-quality arboricultural services to our clients.

You’ll mentor teammates through Davey’s Career Development Program, operate tools including chainsaws and chippers, and install cables, bracing, and lightning protection.

Qualifications

• Must complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Preferred ISA Certified Arborist®, TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.
• Outdoor work fitness and ability to climb as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew in arboricultural care for clients.
• Prune, thin and remove deadwood in tree canopies.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Mentor crew through Davey Career Development Program.
• Operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and aerial lifts.

SIGN ON BONUS! $2,500. SIGN ON BONUS FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANT

Bonus paid in increments to include $500 the first month and $500 each consecutive month

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Safely and productively lead a crew in providing arboricultural care for our clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking for:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
