Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist for on-site work in San Antonio, TX. You will trim and remove trees, remove diseased limbs, and support health and safety around sites while working with a skilled crew.

Applicants should have tree climbing experience and be prepared to complete Davey safety and orientation courses upon hire. Opportunities for advancement and industry-leading training are offered.

Qualifications

• 1 year of tree climbing experience.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree orientation and safety courses on hire.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using provided systems.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform pruning and removal tasks safely for clients.
• Maintain and operate all tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• See removal of hazardous trees and installation of safety systems as needed.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• 1 year tree climbing experience
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
