The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist to join our outdoor team in Houston, TX. Your office is the outdoors, and you will be part of a dynamic crew performing tree pruning, removal, and safety installations.

We offer industry-leading training, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for advancement as you gain experience with DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems. CDL is preferred, with certifications in First Aid/CPR and defensive driving encouraged on hire.

Qualifications

• 1 year tree climbing experience required or preferred
• CDL preferred
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire
• Complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses upon hire
• Preferred: Pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems
• Work with ground crew and crew leader
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Maintain and operate chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and related equipment

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Compensation Data : $20.00 - $28.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Minimum 1 year tree climbing experience
• Prefered : Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
