University of Chicago invites applications for the 2027-29 cohort of CSEi Research Fellows, to be appointed at the rank of Research Fellow. The program seeks outstanding early career scholars in climate systems engineering, working with UChicago mentors to develop independent research.

The fellowship is two years, starting in 2027, with a salary of $95K per year, dedicated workspace, and $10,000/year for research and travel funding. A one-time relocation payment of $4,000 is provided, taxable.

• PhD or terminal degree completed by appointment time.

Responsibilities

• Engage closely with UChicago faculty mentors to develop independent research in climate systems engineering.
• Contribute to collaborative projects across disciplines and participate in academic activities of the CSEi.
• Travel and relocation logistics as part of the fellowship program.
