Job summary

Electrify DC is seeking a Communications Manager to own our communications and content strategy, guiding editorial direction and media presence for a growing climate nonprofit in the DMV region.

You will shape how we tell our story to homeowners, renters, contractors, and real estate professionals, while managing newsletters, blogs, and social channels with an emphasis on impact and accessibility.

Qualifications

• Three to five years developing and executing communications strategies, ideally in a small or scaling team.
• A genuinely strong writer and editor who can find the human story inside a heat pump.
• Ability to market/influence through captivating social media content.
• Proven experience securing media coverage for a cause or organization.
• Self-directed with the judgment to prioritize under urgency.
• Strong organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to work across diverse backgrounds.
• Proficient with Google Suite, Wordpress, Canva, Slack, Asana, Eventbrite, Zoom; Salesforce familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own Electrify DC's communications and content strategy and set the editorial vision.
• Lead communications for the Healthy Homes Fair and core programs.
• Write and produce monthly newsletter; edit blog posts and guest contributions; manage editorial calendar.
• Write content strategically to reach audiences searching for home electrification topics.
• Build relationships with journalists and secure regular coverage.
• Grow storytelling to reflect homeowners, renters, professionals, and job seekers.
• Maintain brand and style guidelines; manage videographers, photographers, designers.
• Support monthly meetings of Electrify DMV Network.
• Grow organizational impact through sharing outcomes and thought leadership.
• Create decks and materials for executive events and fundraising.
