Job description

Thornton Tomasetti applies engineering and scientific principles to solve the world’s challenges. An independent organization of creative thinkers and innovative doers collaborating from offices worldwide, our mission is to bring our clients' ideas to life and, in the process, lay the groundwork for a better, more resilient future. We provide support and opportunities to our employees to achieve their full potential and cultivate a rewarding career.

The Role

We have an immediate opportunity for a Climate Action Business Development Manager who will thrive in our “one-firm firm” culture. You will be involved in strategic planning, client relationship management, and business strategy development, allowing you to make significant contributions to our firm’s success.

The focus of this position is on Thornton Tomasetti’s Climate Action, which aims to address the threat of climate change, through two broad avenues. The first is decarbonization, i.e. reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to limit the extent of climate change. The second is resilience, a suite of adaptation and mitigation strategies for everything from individual facilities to entire communities.

You will engage directly with the target clients, i.e., owners, operators, and/or developers of facilities with high reliability, maintainability and availability (RAM) requirements (i.e. data centers, hospitals, educational / manufacturing campuses). Given the current growth of AI applications, we intend to focus our immediate efforts on datacenters and other facilities supporting AI growth (e.g. chip manufacturing).

This role offers a unique opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while helping to mitigate climate change and shape the future of our firm.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic market research, identify dominant trends, and strategic pursuits.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for client outreach, engagement and relationship management ensuring their awareness of TT’s capabilities and services supporting their energy goals.
  • Manage and/or support the development of competitive proposals.
  • Actively manage the client relationships and projects executed by TT for these clients. This will include identifying and engaging with key TT personnel across our practices and geographies.
  • Assume a level of responsibility for growth of revenue associated with the suite of TT Climate Action services.

Requirements

  • Passion for energy transition and resilience.
  • Experience Level: 7+ years of working experience; preferred experience with datacenters, their developers and/or owners.
  • Experience developing and managing client relationships and complex projects.
  • A university degree (engineering or architecture preferred but not required).
