Job description

Practice Support and Integration Manager

Location: Tampa, FL

Job Type: Full-Time

About Us

At 1Source Partners, we serve as trusted advisors dedicated to supporting the growth and long-term success of our clients. We operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where relationships, precision, agility, and collaboration drive everything we do. Our firm provides comprehensive accounting, tax, assurance, and advisory services tailored to the unique needs of business owners, executives, and independent professionals. Our team is composed of experienced professionals who bring both technical expertise and a deep understanding of business operations. We value strong client relationships and work collectively to deliver insightful guidance, exceptional service, and measurable results.

Position Overview

The Practice Support and Integration Manager stands up and runs centralized practice support across the firm's four practices: Tax, Client Advisory Services, Assurance, and Transaction Advisory, and integrates the practice support of each firm that joins 1Source. Tax support carries slightly more weight, given its client volume and return deadlines.

The purpose of the function is to take operational and administrative work off the practices so practice time goes to clients and to the team rather than to logistics. The role builds the team, manages it, owns how work gets done and how capacity is allocated, and performs quality control on the work that carries real exposure. The role works with the Practice Leaders and the VP of Growth to streamline non-technical work wherever similar responsibilities sit in more than one practice. The role learns every process it supports end to end, and is expected to keep optimizing and streamlining each one.

As the firm grows through acquisition, the role integrates each acquired firm's practice support into 1Source. That means bringing client data into the firm's practice systems, training the firm's practice support staff on 1Source systems and approaches, and absorbing their practice support work and people into this function, so their clients receive the same support as every 1Source client.

The Practice Support and Integration Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The CAS and Assurance/TAS Practice Support Coordinator, Tax Operations Senior Coordinator, Tax Operations Coordinator, and all offshore practice support seats report to this position. In addition, the role collaborates heavily with the Practice Leaders, so the support each practice receives meets and exceeds what they expect, and with the VP of Growth, so practice support strengthens the client path from the first conversation onward.

Key Responsibilities
Team
  • Stand up the centralized practice support function by leveraging the team already in place, defining the seats, service standards, and operating model the platform needs, and hiring and developing into the gaps.
  • Manage, coach, and develop the practice support team: hiring, training, performance, coverage, capacity, and quality, with clear expectations, regular feedback, individual development plans, and a path into the seats the platform will need.
Running practice support
  • Learn every practice support process end to end, map it, and streamline and optimize it continuously, removing unnecessary steps, handoffs, and rework.
  • Own the operating system of practice support, working with the Practice Leaders to delineate lines of authority and communication with the practice support team so expectations are clear for everyone.
  • Establish a single intake channel with published response standards for practice support requests, with capacity visible to every Practice Leader, so support is allocated by entitlement rather than by who asks hardest.
  • Perform quality control review on high-risk, high-exposure work produced by the practice support teams, escalating technical questions and process opportunities to the Practice Leaders. Own the QC system behind that review: the checklists, the review points built into each workflow, the defect log, and the root cause review that closes each defect with a documented change.
  • Own the standard operating procedure system for practice support, with published procedures, defined controls at each handoff, a defect loop that closes with a documented change and an acknowledgment, and retrospectives that keep the system improving.
Tax Operations
  • Stabilize and optimize Tax Operations: clean up data and process, apply AI and automation, and build the capacity model the season requires.
  • Serve as the operational guide for Tax Operations through the winter and fall return seasons, holding sequencing, coverage, and compliance controls while the practice directs volume and deadline priority.
Integration
  • Integrate each acquired firm's client data into the firm's practice systems, including client, job, and document records, working with the Chief Technology Officer on the migration.
  • Train each acquired firm's practice support staff on 1Source systems, procedures, and approaches, so their clients receive the same support as every 1Source client.
  • Absorb each acquired firm's practice support work and people into this function, collaborating with the Business Operations Manager so the transition is high quality and seamless.
Technology and AI
  • Apply artificial intelligence and automation across practice support, including document classification and intake routing, correspondence drafting, quality control checklists, and exception flagging, with human review before anything reaches a client or a compliance agency.
  • Lead data quality across practice systems, including client records, job status, budgets, engagement letter status, extension tracking, and section 7216 designations.
Measurement, growth, and change
  • Identify the work best suited to offshore delivery and develop the offshore model for practice support, including but not limited to scope, access controls under Internal Revenue Code section 7216, training, coordination, and capacity planning, and size the onshore review load that offshore capacity requires.
  • Develop the offshore team as part of this function, with the same expectations, feedback, and growth path as the onshore team.
  • Sit at the table with the Practice Leaders and the VP of Growth to understand the end-to-end client path they are driving, from prospecting and proposals through client acceptance, engagement letters, job setup, delivery, billing, and collections follow-up, and identify where practice support can streamline and optimize it.
  • Build the measures that show how practice support is performing, including throughput, cycle time, response time, and defect rate, and report them to Practice Leaders and firm leadership.
  • Operate within the firm's Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) framework, carrying quarterly rocks, contributing to the scorecard, and bringing issues forward for resolution.
Who You Are
  • Lives out the firm's core values: Relationships, Quality, People, Accountability, Agility, and Fun.
  • A servant leader and coach. Leads by example, does the work alongside the team when it matters, and develops the people around them.
  • Passionate about quality, with superb attention to detail. Holds the team to that standard and coaches them to it.
  • A strategic thinker. Connects the work in front of them to where the firm is going, and builds for the next firm we acquire rather than only this one.
  • Client and people focused, with genuine service orientation toward the practices and the people in them.
  • An excellent project manager. Has run several complex and interrelated workstreams, and holds others accountable to their commitments.
  • A strong communicator with executive presence. Holds a room with partners and firm leadership, and adjusts the message to the audience.
  • Innovative and solutions based. Brings options rather than problems, works comfortably in ambiguity, and stays curious about why a process runs the way it does.
  • Process focused and technology savvy. Follows a documented procedure precisely and improves it, learns a new system quickly, and reaches for automation and AI as a first instinct.
  • A self-starter who carries work through to completion without daily direction.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, management, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in practice support, professional services operations, or a comparable service delivery function, including at least two years managing or supervising a team.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and developing a team, including hiring and performance.
  • Experience standing a team or function up, not only inheriting and running one.
  • Experience designing, documenting, and operationalizing processes and business systems, including standard operating procedures that other people follow without help.
  • Demonstrated experience performing or supervising quality control review on compliance-sensitive work, with the judgment to identify what carries real exposure and when to elevate.
  • Working fluency with artificial intelligence and automation tools, with specific examples of applying them to administrative or practice support work.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills under deadline pressure, with the judgment to know which controls do not bend for speed.
Preferred
  • Some tax or accounting practice background. Depth is welcome, not required.
  • Experience in a multi-office or multi-entity CPA firm.
  • Experience integrating an acquired firm or migrating client data between practice systems.
  • Experience managing or coordinating offshore or outsourced delivery teams.
  • Familiarity with tax practice systems such as CCH Axcess and CCH Collaboration, or comparable platforms.
  • Familiarity with section 7216, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and written information security program requirements.
  • Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) or a comparable operating framework.
  • Generous PTO policy
  • 401k plan with employer contributions
  • Opportunities for growth
