Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a full-time phlebotomist for a 40-hour week at a client site in Dyer, IN. Shifts run Monday-Thursday 10:30am-7pm, Friday 8am-2:30pm with possible Saturday rotation. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen labeling, and timely communication of results.

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and phlebotomy certification or relevant experience. EMR proficiency and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience and patient specimen collection per standards.
• Post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identify need for medical assistance and call code as appropriate.
• Review refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; report findings.
• Procure and label blood specimens according to protocols.
• Must handle diverse patient populations (infant to geriatric).
• Follow safety guidelines and mass communication of results.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and related specimen collection per age-related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Communicates updates to client office staff and completes required documentation.
• Maintains equipment operation and safety practices in the lab.
