The Client Services Director (CSD) has a deep understanding of Professional Services best practices, Account Management, Manufacturing/Distribution, ERP Implementations & Governance, and Business Transformation projects that drive Client ROI.

This position reports to senior leadership in our Service Delivery organization and will own multiple client relationships along with a portfolio of active projects and prospective opportunities. The CSD will be responsible for effectively working with client senior leadership to lead professional service teams delivering Ultra’s services that meet/exceed client expectations and achieve Ultra objectives, including planned fees/revenue, and margin and schedule adherence. The CSD will also drive business development initiatives and strategies to expand existing accounts in a way that continues to add value to our clients. This responsibility may include preparing and delivering presentations, virtual and on-site activities, along with developing and approving proposals that focus on business performance objectives.

The CSD will manage consulting resources to ensure the necessary skills and talent are positioned to deliver the highest quality services and exceed both client and Ultra expectations. The CSD will have strong people skills and be able to coach and lead our team of experienced professionals. In addition to building successful client relationships and leading professional services team members, the CSD has the responsibility to add value to each client engagement and bill time accordingly.

The successful candidate will have a career history of working with manufacturing and/or distribution companies, with experience in related process domains, while managing significant projects with budget and resource responsibilities.

Applicants must have a solid understanding and experience with enterprise technologies and software (e.g. ERP, CRM, MRP, WMS, CPQ, PLM).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage portfolio of accounts and related issue resolution, as necessary, to achieve planned fees/revenue, and margin and schedule adherence.
  • Lead team of professional service consultants to deliver outstanding consulting services to clients while managing resource capacity and utilization, employee performance and ensure resource skills alignment.
  • Drive various internal and client-facing activities to meet goals for revenue, sales (bookings & backlog), and delivery of high value services leading to extended lifecycle of client engagements and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOW) and detailed Project Plans that are compelling to Clients and consistent with Ultra’s Methodologies.
  • Work with Project Manager(s) to lead the project team in managing to the project plan, developing client deliverables, and fostering effective client relationships.
  • Drive business development on existing accounts (opportunity/gap analysis, proposal development and presentations.
  • Identify and suggest/propose new deliverables and improvements to Ultra’s methodology, tools, and templates.
  • Contribute and collaborate as an industry thought leader.
  • Engage in recruiting activities and inspire top talent within our company and client teams.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, MS-Project, Visio, SharePoint, MS Teams, OneNote, Outlook and Video Conferencing Technologies.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, be a self-motivator, fill in the gaps, and drive to success.
  • Able to perform work at ground level, assisting your team in completion of deliverables when necessary.
  • Able to think and execute at both Strategic & Tactical levels (rolling-up your sleeves) with an acute attention to the details.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in presentations and writing.
  • Must be confident in presenting complex information tailored to the audience’s level of understanding.
  • Skilled in the art of delivering clear and simple messaging for complex situations.
  • Professional and proactive work ethic with effective organization and time management skills.
  • Must be proactive, able to juggle competing priorities, keep others informed, collaborative and make solid decisions in the best interest of the company.
  • Must be comfortable working constructively with all levels of the client and Ultra organization all the way up to the C-Suite.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply-chain management, engineering, economics, or related field.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Directly supervise up to 10 employees within the Service Delivery team
  • Lead project delivery teams of 1-10 project team members across a portfolio of up to 15 projects.

Responsibilities include interviewing and evaluating candidates; coaching employees and offering guidance for professional growth; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required education/level of experience

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or equivalent related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred education/level of experience

Master's Degree (MA) or equivalent, or four to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred certifications and licenses

Related certifications are strongly preferred (e.g. PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, CPIM, CPSM, Prosci)

Ultra will provide a laptop and software to each full-time employee. Employees should have a reliable internet connection and expect to be available and engaged in work activities during regular work hours. Employees must also comply with rules and guidelines outlined in the employee handbook, including attendance, code of conduct, confidentiality, PTO, and data privacy and security.

Depending on the role or project, team members should expect the following:

  • Consultants, Managers and Sales team members will occasionally work onsite with clients and should be able to adapt to our client’s work environment which could range from conference room to shop floor.
  • Client site visits to industrial sites may involve exposure to heat, noise, large industrial equipment, moving assembly lines, chemicals, and other environmental factors.
  • All team members may travel to in-person, regional Hub meetings approximately 2-3 times per year.
  • Telephone and multi-media conferencing will be a standard practice.
  • Commitment to work within and at times, outside normal working hours to meet or exceed expectations.
