Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking an onsite Client Service Technician Apprentice to observe and perform service procedures on diagnostic imaging equipment in hospital and clinical settings in Northern New England (New Hampshire & Maine). The program lasts one year and prepares candidates for a Level 1 position afterward.

Apprentices will support customers in healthcare environments, complete PMs, and learn to maintain and repair medical equipment while adhering to GEHC policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Requires AS/BS/MS or military education, or current student within 12 months of completion.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Work in hospital radiology environments to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and perform repairs.
  • Perform planned maintenance, safety and environmental inspections, and maintain customer relations.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on designated equipment.
  • Conduct safety/environmental inspections per guidelines and document actions as required.

Role Overview

In this role, the Client Service Technician Apprentice will observe and perform various equipment service processes and procedures to drive customer satisfaction and ensure proper functionality of less complex customer diagnostic imaging equipment. This is an onsite customer‑facing service position focused on maintaining and repairing medical equipment in healthcare environments. Time is spent supporting customers in hospitals and clinical settings, serving as the face of GE HealthCare at customer sites in Northern New England: New Hampshire & Maine.

This one-year apprenticeship is designed to prepare candidates for a long‑term career in field service. The apprenticeship will be scheduled to align with the anticipated availability of a Level 1 position to support continuity of employment following program completion.

Role Responsibilities
  • Work within hospital radiology environment to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
  • Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs; as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations. Follow appropriate GEHC policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation, as guided.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance on designated equipment.
  • Perform safety and environmental inspections ensuring compliance to Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage vendor's service delivery processes in compliance with GEHC policies, as instructed.
  • Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up, leading to customer satisfaction.
  • Learn and ensure proper care of tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Mentor with and assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and resolution, and will work as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within his/her assigned area.
  • Meet Health and Human Services, as well as Environment Health and Safety requirements.
  • Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within the defined deadlines. Identify and report any and all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
  • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
Work Environment & Travel
  • Field roles are most effectively performed outside of GE HealthCare facilities and generally take place at customer locations, including hospitals and healthcare environments.
  • Healthcare operations run 24/7. Apprentices must be flexible to support customer needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or adjusted hours based on service or customer requirements.
  • Travel to customer locations may be required, depending on market and business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • AS, BS, MS degree, military education, certificate program, current student with less than 12 months from completion OR High School Diploma/GED with 6 months experience servicing electronic, IT or mechanical equipment.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience interpreting schematic diagrams and performing effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment.
  • Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy to understand manner.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations.
  • Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution based service process.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment in the electronic field – resulting in knowledge of electronic digital circuitry and understanding of electronic and electro‑mechanical devices.
  • Change agent and process oriented.
Location & Mobility
  • Local candidates strongly preferred.
  • Any relocation beyond 30 miles from your current location must be approved by your manager in advance.
Program Considerations
  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship and conversion to a full‑time internal position are based on performance, business need, and role availability.
  • Candidates who are open to relocation may increase their chances of placement into a full‑time internal role.
  • In 2025, 84% of apprentices completing the program moved into full time internal positions.
Physical & Compliance Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 35 pounds unassisted and perform frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex and extend neck; and demonstrate good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Specific vision abilities may include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must successfully complete GE HealthCare background checks, post‑offer drug testing, and ongoing customer access requirements, including required immunizations (obtaining and/or providing proof), additional drug tests/background checks (including a federal government background check if assigned to support a contract with the federal government), and site‑specific compliance protocols.
Onsite

For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $48,000 - $72,000. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
