About the Role
This growing professional services organization is adding a Client Payroll Associate to support its expanding client base. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for someone starting their payroll or accounting career who enjoys working with clients, values accuracy, and thrives in a collaborative environment.
In this role, you\'ll support payroll processing for multiple clients—primarily small professional services firms—while learning best practices in payroll compliance, systems, and client service under the guidance of experienced payroll professionals.
What You\'ll Do
- Payroll Support: Assist with accurate and timely payroll processing for multiple clients
- Collect, review, and enter payroll data using Gusto and internal systems
- Help process payroll adjustments, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, and deductions
- Support payroll reconciliations and basic reporting
Client Communication & Support
- Monitor and manage a shared payroll inbox with prompt, professional responses
- Triage payroll questions and requests, resolving issues or escalating as needed
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding payroll deadlines, changes, and updates
- Serve as a polished, client-facing representative when interacting with attorneys and firm staff
Client & System Support
- Assist with onboarding new clients into Gusto Payroll and internal systems
- Support clients with state employer registrations and payroll setup requirements
- Respond to routine payroll questions and escalate complex matters appropriately
Compliance & Learning
- Support payroll audits and accuracy reviews
- Learn and follow federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Stay current on internal payroll procedures and best practices
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with payroll team members to meet deadlines and maintain service quality
- Document processes and assist with workflow improvements
What We're Looking For
- 0-2 years of payroll, accounting, or professional services experience
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to multitask across multiple clients and systems with accuracy
- Professional, polished communication style and strong customer service mindset
- Comfortable working with multiple screens and browsers simultaneously
- Experience with Gusto Payroll and strong Excel skills are a plus
