Reading Cooperative Bank in Reading, MA seeks a Commercial Portfolio Manager to own and manage a diverse portfolio of commercial relationships, including CRE, C&I, and construction loans. You will underwrite, review, and structure loans while spending substantial time with clients.

The role involves analyzing financials, tracking covenants, and coordinating with lenders and professionals to support closing and approvals. Strong credit training and client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyze financial statements and tax returns to assess repayment capacity.
• Knowledge of loan documentation, credit policy, and banking compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable with clients.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Team player with professional demeanor and reliability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; spreading software experience is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of commercial relationships including CRE, C&I, construction, lines of credit, and term loans.
• Obtain annual financial information from clients; track financial reporting and covenant compliance.
• Analyze financials on existing relationships and prepare annual review and memos.
• Manage maturities, renewals, extensions, modifications, and rate changes.
• Monitor past dues, overdrafts, and borrowing base certificates; identify early warning signs.
• Coordinate property inspections and construction loan advances on assigned credits.
• Report portfolio status to the Team Leader.
• Analyze and underwrite new loan requests and renewals: cash flow, collateral, spreads, guarantor strength, and market analysis.
• Assist lenders in preparing pre-deals, loan memorandums, and credit presentations.
• Discuss deal structure, cash flow, collateral, and borrower character with lenders; recommend alternative structures or products.
• Determine whether requests comply with credit policy and identify exceptions and mitigants.
• Work with attorneys, CPAs, appraisers, and other professionals to support underwriting and closing.
• Handle smaller commercial and small business requests directly, up to $250,000 through streamline process.
