Job description

Overview

When you join Verizon, you will be part of a team focused on driving innovation, creativity, and impact. Our V Team is a community that listens, learns, and grows together—where you can share ideas freely and thrive.

What you'll be doing

As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be responsible for securing contracts within multi-dwelling unit (MDU) and multi-tenant (MTU) communities to expand Verizon Home Internet services. Contracts include Broadband Access Agreements (to build out network) and Marketing Agreements (to co-market Verizon services). These contracts give Verizon access to deploy networks and position voice/internet services to residential and small business end users.

Customer base includes owners, developers, and builders of MDU/MTU housing and rental communities, ranging from ten units per property to tens of thousands of units for an entire portfolio. These owners offer Verizon non-exclusive marketing access to residential customers with a propensity to buy high-value data services. Contracts contribute to top-line revenue growth and are measured by access line valuation, revenue, reduced churn, or mitigated competitive loss.

BDM will coordinate with local Verizon Engineering to secure License Agreements granting Verizon the right to construct a hybrid wireless-to-the-premises network wired on and through targeted properties. Initiate face-to-face contact with high-value owners, builders, and developers to present, propose, and secure marketing rights for Verizon’s services in direct competition with other providers.

  • Developing new business via telephone and mass communication (email, social media) to introduce the value proposition and identify appropriate buyers within target markets.
  • Conducting a needs analysis to determine how the solution addresses pain points.
  • Identifying key buying influencers to determine budget and timeline.
  • Building and cultivating prospect relationships through communications, on-site property tours, discovery sessions, and follow-up meetings.
  • Managing data for new and prospective clients in sales databases, logging all communications and attaching documents.
  • Preparing and analyzing sales pipeline reports and dashboards.
  • Establishing customer relationships to position Verizon as the provider of choice for voice and broadband services.
  • Negotiating contracts and closing long-term cooperative marketing deals for internet and mobility services for renters on a non-exclusive basis, creating new business opportunities and top-line growth.
  • Understanding the competitive environment and Verizon’s technical advantages to present capabilities consultatively.
  • Participating in local/regional industry events and forums with owners, builders, and developer trade associations, presenting Verizon’s programs as applicable.
  • Interfacing with local Outside Plant Engineering teams to position Verizon’s Enhanced Communities program and pursue new construction opportunities.

This position will cover Miami-Dade and Broward County, Florida, and surrounding areas. Employees must reside within 50 miles of the assigned sales territory.

What we're looking for

You are passionate about sales, service, and building lasting relationships. You learn about the multifamily market, developers, and owners, using business acumen to establish credibility and deliver solutions. You negotiate to balance customer needs with results in a win for everyone and are energized by landing the next big account.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work or military experience.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 75% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • MDU business development experience in fiber and/or FWA.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications.
  • Strong consulting skills, including prospecting, sales planning, and value-based selling.
  • Strong influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the multi-family environment.
  • Ability to manage a sales funnel in a quota-based environment.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working

In this mobile role, you’ll primarily work from customer sites or field locations, with occasional visits to a Verizon location for in-person training and meetings.
