Job summary

McDermott Will & Schulte in Chicago is seeking a motivated business development professional to help convert sales opportunities into active matters, open client matters, coordinate calendars and travel, and support pricing and budgets.

You will work with attorneys and the pricing function, prepare reports and dashboards, use Salesforce to track client interactions, and help grow relationships with key accounts through proactive follow-up and targeted outreach.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience in business development, sales, client services, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Support the transition of sales opportunities into active matters by preparing engagement letters and related documentation
  • Support client/matter opening processes and coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely execution
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, and business-development related travel as needed
  • Work with attorneys and pricing function to prepare budgets, working group lists and assist with compliance with outside counsel guidelines
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and tracking dashboards
  • Utilize Salesforce to maintain organized records of client interactions, business development activities, and active opportunities
  • Conduct research to help map relationships at key accounts to help identify additional relevant introductions
  • Draft client follow-up email communications and timely meeting notes
  • Help manage ongoing client and prospect relationships by coordinating communications and ensuring timely follow-up
  • Collaborate closely with the business development team on the pre and post meeting process, including scheduling specific client events, preparing briefing materials for client meetings, supporting follow-up pitches, and other business development initiative s
  • In close collaboration with the business development team's targeting efforts, monitor third-party sources and press related to client activity and identify opportunities for additional client engagement
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
Job Specifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5+ years of experience in business development, sales, client services, marketing, account management, or a related field
  • Experience using Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) platform preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly

Target Hiring Range $72,000 - $90,000

Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
