Outsourced Accounting & Advisory Services is a highly specialized, organized team of chief financial officers, controllers, senior accountants, and bookkeeping specialists with years of experience working with small to mid-sized organizations, for-profit and non-profit.

About the Client Accounting & Projects Manager Role

The Client Accounting & Projects Manager plays a key role within the Outsourcing Accounting & Advisory team, managing client accounting projects, strategic advisory services, and complex project management throughout the client engagement lifecycle. This role leads assessments related to managed services transitions and helps elevate the quality, consistency, and overall client experience across the team's three-phased approach: Assessment, Implementation, and Managed Services. The Manager partners closely with clients, practice leadership, and the Operations team to identify opportunities and implement solutions that strengthen client operations and financial reporting.

The Client Accounting & Projects Manager works with Projects Team leadership using the firm's preferred technology solutions and implements client-approved improvements across technology systems, processes and procedures, internal controls, financial reporting and forecasting, and client training. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, strong project management and client relationship skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering best-in-class client service.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support and execute the vision and strategic initiatives of the Outsourcing Accounting & Advisory leadership team for the Business Advisory and Projects function.
• Partner with the projects leadership team to manage activities across the firm's three-phased delivery model (Assessment, Implementation, and Managed Services), ensuring smooth transitions from project work to ongoing managed services.
• Support complex client advisory and ad hoc strategic projects, including managed services assessments and implementations.
• Drive continuous improvement by enhancing processes, internal controls, operational efficiencies, client training, and reporting through innovative use of technology platforms.
• Support the development and execution of financial models, business plans, and forecasting tools for clients engaged in exit planning, acquisitions, or long-term strategic initiatives.
• Oversee day-to-day client financial operations, ensuring accurate, timely processing and real-time financial reporting.
• Apply audit-based methodologies to the month-end close process and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations supported by appropriate documentation and subledger detail.
• Perform analytical reviews of general ledger activity to identify missing transactions, trends, and anomalies on a monthly and annual basis.
• Ensure all compliance and regulatory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for client leadership teams and Boards, providing clear, timely, and professional communication.
• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for clients.
• Lead annual audit coordination and tax return preparation processes.
• Assist with supervising, mentoring, and developing project accounting team members, supporting performance, growth, and engagement.
• Own multiple projects and be accountable for scope, timelines, deliverables, resources and deadlines.

To be successful in this role, you will bring with you:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in outsourced accounting, advisory, or public accounting, with experience managing complex client engagements.
• Experience with cloud-based accounting solutions and integrated technology platforms, such as QBO, Sage Intacct, Fund Ez, Net Suite, Workday etc. (implementation experience).
• Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Products (Outlook, Teams, Planner, etc.)
• Hands-on experience leading client assessments, implementations, and managed services transitions, including ownership of scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Strong understanding of AP, AR and payroll processes and their impact on client financial operations.
• Direct experience working with executive leadership and Boards, providing financial reporting, insights, and strategic recommendations.
• Experience with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management.
• Proven experience overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, audits, and tax preparation with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting or advisory professionals in a team-based environment.
• Proficient knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and financial processes.
• Ability to prepare financial statements on an accrual basis .
• Ability to analyze report variances and issues with financial statements.
• Strong client relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, understand client needs, and serve as a strategic advisor to client leadership.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to client sites as needed.
