Job summary

Park Avenue Center in Minneapolis seeks a Client Access Counselor to join our Intake Team in a positive, supportive environment. This full-time role involves intake duties, facilitating groups, supporting primary counselors, and ensuring timely documentation; crisis intervention and meetings are routine.

Qualified candidates will be licensed LADC or eligible for ADC-T, with strong English communication and proficiency in MS Office and EMR.

Qualifications

  • Experience screening for co-occurring disorders via education and training.
  • Knowledge of MN Statute Chapter 245G and licensing requirements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English; other languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intake duties as assigned by Clinical Director.
  • Facilitate gender-specific groups and lectures.
  • Support primary counselors with paperwork and caseload coverage.
  • Ensure timely documentation per MN requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and maintain professional ethics.
  • Attend regular meetings and weekly supervision.

Job description

PAC is seeking a Client Access Counselor to join our Intake Team and work in a positive work environment with a team of supportive professionals.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform intake duties as assigned by Clinical Director
  • Facilitate gender-specific primary, experiential, and education groups and lectures
  • Support primary counselors by assisting with paperwork and covering caseloads
  • Comply with MN Statute, Chapter 245G requirements regarding timely paperwork and documentation
  • Provide support and intervention in crisis situations
  • Maintain a positive, professional and ethical demeanor with clients and within the community while following a strict code of ethics
  • Participate in various regularly scheduled meetings
  • Participate in weekly supervision meetings with the Clinical Director

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must demonstrate competence in screening for and working with clients with co-occurring disorders; through education, training and experience
  • Knowledge of MN Statute, Chapter 245G and licensing and its application to the department and company’s policy and procedures
  • Ability to work in alignment with company values, goals, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with co-workers
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English; communication skills in other languages preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Electronic Medical Record system; or ability to obtain proficiency after training

Required qualifications

  • Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or have the ability to obtain an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Temporary permit (ADC-T)
  • Must obtain and maintain required continuing education units and training

Environment/Work Setting: This position works in a substance abuse co-occurring disorders treatment facility, primarily in an office setting. There will be frequent interaction with persons who are chemically dependent, with mental health diagnoses, and/or who experience emotional instability.

Job Type: Full-time, benefit eligible, Monday - Friday days.

Pay: $54,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year DOQ.
